Kenya volunteer

MDID Kenya volunteer

This summer, a group of students from the International Department of Mingdao High School embarked on a groundbreaking journey as the school’s very first YMCA overseas volunteer team. Their destination? Kenya, Africa—a place both challenging and full of promise.

During their trip, the team volunteered at Kibera School, located in Nairobi’s Kibera community, which is the largest urban slum in Africa. There, they spent several days teaching, connecting with local students, and supporting the school in meaningful ways. The experience was eye-opening and deeply rewarding, giving the students a new perspective on service, resilience, and global citizenship.

To cap off their adventure, the team explored the breathtaking Maasai Mara National Park, witnessing Africa’s iconic wildlife and natural beauty firsthand. The journey was long and demanding, but the memories, friendships, and lessons gained will last a lifetime.

This event wasn’t just about travel—it was about making a difference, growing together, and bringing hope across continents.
